BBC tutorials for beginners.
- BBC - Absolute beginners’ guide to using computers (with sound) - A very good starting point. Most learners can get to the end in a single two-hour session, and are rewarded by a certificate that they can print off.
- BBC - Absolute beginners’ guide to using computers - This version does not use sound.
- BBC - Computer Tutor - A resource for people who don’t know how to use a keyboard, mouse or computer screen. Very useful, requires sound.
- BBC - Learning Online - Information Technology - Links to online resources for learning about computers and information technology.
- BBC - Learning Online - Adult Learners - Online learning, support and advice.
- BBC - Raw - Computers - A good series of tutorials for beginners, each in two versions: Flash (interactive, practical, requiring sound) and HTML (non-interactive, all on one page). Doing both seems to work well — first the interactive Flash tutoral, reinforced by reading through the short HTML version. There is also a summary page with links to PDF copies of each tutorial.

- BBC - Webwise - Beginner’s guide to the Internet, with an online tutorial.
- Webwise Guides - Guides to: Online sharing (photos, podcasts, social networks), Watching TV online, Getting online.
Learning Zone.
- Learning Zone - Digital Unite’s Learning Zone course content and objectives are similar to our own, and a good online destination after the BBC for learners who have learnt a little about email. After registering at Learning Zone, they have access to about 60 useful guides in PDF format. They can print them (they are all quite short), then follow the guides in their own way. Learning Zone also offers online Question & Answer support.
